Hi, my name is Julie Katrine Andersen. I'm a graphic designer, art director, fierce crafter and design speaker.
I enjoy turning stories into visual communication and my great love and strength is publication projects of any kind. Really, I'm not snobbish about the content, because it is the designer's job to make any content look great and authentic, and to tell the story correctly. To dress it in its' finest clothes and make it stand out in a crowd.
Overall I just like to figure out stuff and make things, complicated things, things that make people go "...huh!?". Like threading 32.014 beads four times each or hand piercing 203.224 holes in a piece of paper.
I go by the name Lil'Ol'Lady because I often feel like a 70 year old caught in a 40-something's body. There's the fact that I had arthritis at the age of 30. But also that I very much enjoy knitting while listening to audiobooks.
HERE'S A FEW OTHER THINGS THAT GIVE MY LIFE JUST A LITTLE MORE BITE:
• The perfect cortado at my local
• Anything containing ginger (yes, categorically!)
• My favourite records: Radiohead - OK Computer and BRMC - Howl
(it's a toss up)
• Cities (but more specifically New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London,
Berlin and Helsinki)
• The TV show Ugly Betty
• Art that is understandable
• Things that make me laugh (cat videos in particular)
A FEW THINGS THAT JUST BITE:
• Insects
• Jazz (yes, categorically!)
• Celine Dion (and other singers who sing with their hands)
• Harry (F***ing) Potter
• Sushi (yes it IS possible to be a designer without liking that stuff)
• Hiking...not walking...but hiking
• Answering machines with options
• TV ads that begin with the sentence "You know the feeling when..."
(because I rarely do!)
